Kicking the Tires on Flock October 20, 2005

Earlier this morning I received an email from the folks at Flock.com in regards to the sneak preview availability of Flock. Previously, I had only signed up for it out of curiosity, reading several articles about it’s “social features” including at the time a proprietary bookmarking engine and tagging (it’s all the rage you know).
Out with the old, in with the new, Flock has dumped their previous bookmarking engine in favor of hooking up with del.ico.us’s API, a smart move since it provides an easier way, aside from a bookmarklet, to archive favorite sites.
Another feature of Flock is their built-in blogging app, allowing anyone to hook into their blog’s API and start blogging. I’m actually using that now to update my WordPress.com blog, which comes as a incentive to those who’ve “flocked”.
Although, I’m not sure if I’m going to use this in favor of Firefox, but it’ll be a nice social browser when Firefox just isn’t enough.
